Stovetop potpourri is a quick way to make your home smell amazing. Not only is it incredibly easy to make, but it also uses ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. Here’s my favorite summer scent that gives off William Sonoma vibe with just three simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
Rosemary: Fresh rosemary is perfect for potpourri. Its robust, pine-like fragrance creates a grounding aroma that’s both refreshing and calming.
Vanilla Extract: Adding a splash of vanilla brings a warm, sweet scent that complements the rosemary beautifully. It creates a cozy, inviting atmosphere in any room.
Lemon: Fresh lemon slices or a bit of lemon zest add a bright, citrusy note that balances the richness of the rosemary and vanilla.
Instructions:
Prepare Your Ingredients: Slice a lemon and measure out a few sprigs of fresh rosemary. If you’re using lemon zest, grate a small amount.
Combine on the Stovetop: In a saucepan, combine the rosemary, lemon slices or zest, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Add Water: Fill the saucepan with water until the ingredients are just covered.
Simmer and Enjoy: Place the saucepan on the stove and bring the mixture to a simmer over low heat. Allow it to simmer gently, adding more water as needed. The aroma will start to fill your home within minutes.
Refresh as Needed: You can keep the potpourri simmering for hours, just be sure to monitor the water level and add more if it gets too low. When you’re done, simply let the mixture cool and discard it.
Tips:
Experiment with different combinations of herbs, spices, and extracts to create your own signature scent.
For a more intense aroma, use more of each ingredient or add a few cloves or cinnamon sticks.
If you want to make it a bit more decorative, you can also add dried flower petals or other herbs.
Creating stovetop potpourri is a wonderful way to naturally scent your home while using ingredients you already have on hand.
